Lack of complete information on arbitration agreement does not make it void

 
In a Florida case (FI-Evergreen Woods, LLC v. Robinson, 2013 WL 5493462 ), T.C. Robinson admitted his wife, May Robinson to a nursing home after she fractured her hip.  During the time she was in the nursing home, May Robinson alleged that she suffered a second fractured hip and other medical complications due to the nursing home’s negligence.  She also alleged that the nursing home breached a fiduciary agreement by not providing appropriate care for payments which the nursing home accepted.

Don't be a victim of financial abuse

 
A couple years ago, someone convinced an elderly friend of mine to sign over her financial power of attorney to them.  This individual also convinced my friend to change her will and to sign over title to her home and car.  There was a wild, crazy couple days as I desperately contacted Adult Protective Services and then called everyone I knew in Senior Services.

Has this ever happened to you?  Have you woken up one day and seen someone you loved as someone you would be caring for in the future?  I don’t mean the knowledge that some day it will happen like when you look at your toddling daughter and know that you’re going to need a shotgun when she hits puberty.  I mean the gut wrenching knowledge that someday is nearly here and you’re wondering what kind of changes you’ll need to make to either your parents’ home or your own and whether you have enough time to suddenly become organized or patient or whatever it is you’ll need to be when the need comes screaming down the pike.

Study finds that where you live determines your health treatment

 
Choose where you’ll age carefully.  New research indicates that where seniors live not only dictates how much health care they receive but also which medications doctors prescribe for them.  The research is new but the results are not.  Seniors often get prescribed medications deemed high risk (and listed on this Beers listing) but the study also showed that treatment options that are proven beneficial to seniors were often ignored for no apparent reason than from which part of the country they live in.  Researchers were unable to explain why there was such a variation in treatment options.
